Hi, it's Thalie :)
I'm a jewelry designer, making unique, fun and innovative pieces by hand in my studio in Brussels.
I trained in fine jewelry, lost-wax casting and gem-setting at the Arts et Métiers in Brussels. My interest in my craft goes beyond traditional methods; I'm constantly on the lookout for new processes, materials and technologies to anchor jewelry and its skills in the present. With its social, economic and ecological challenges.
Almost every step of the jewelry-making process is made with my own two hands, in a slow & artisanal approach. My designs are durable, inclusive, modular and transmittable. I use recycled and reusable materials and choose to ban others, such as natural stones and pearls, which exploit the earth, humans or animals. I produce only in small batches or made to order, to avoid excessive costs, energy consumption and unnecessary waste. I favor short circuits by using suppliers and sub-contractors from Europe, mainly Belgium.
A non-exhaustive list of things that inspire me: plants, boxes, old tools, feminism, chairs, the wind, internet culture, modernism, ancient civilisations, constructivism, folklore, woodwork, glass, dollhouses.
I'm very happy when a beautiful objet has a function, even more if there is a secret one. I'm fascinated by the multiple ways something becomes precious to someone.
